Here is a guide on how to enabled the ability to install third-party apps from outside of the store.

So many existing Android versions/Hardware manufacturers makes it differs a lot. However, despite the slight UI differences they all follows the same concept.

Versions earlier than Android 8:

  1. Go to your phone’s Settings.
  2. Tap Security.
  3. Under Device administration, toggle Unknown sources on.

Android 8 and above:

  1. Go to “Settings” > “Security & privacy” > “More settings”.
  2. Tap on Install apps from external sources. Select the browser (e.g., Chrome or Firefox) you want to download the APK files from.
  3. Toggle Allow app installs on.

For Samsung devices:

  1. Go to “Settings” > “Biometrics and security” > “Install unknown apps
  2. Select the browser (e.g., Chrome or Firefox) you want to download the APK files from.
  3. Toggle Allow app installs on.

Then, go to “Settings” > “Google” > “Security” > “Google Play Protect”. Disable “Improve harmful app detection” & “Scan device for security threats”.

Because there are so many types of Android device out there, maybe you can’t find those options or still don’t know what to do. Don’t worry, just google for “how to to install third party apps for [your phone]”, you’ll see a list of tutorials.
